Burlington Winter Festival Brings the Cool Winter Feeling!

Burlington’s 19th annual Winter Festival is set for Saturday Feb. 5 , 2011 with activities downtown and at the Waterfront.

Presented by  NorthCountry Federal Credit Union, the 2011 festival includes fun  activities for all ages, including the Vermont Snow Sculpting Competition, the Church Street Ice Walk, kids activities, live  performances, art exhibits, special merchant promotions, and more!

There will also be dog sled rides at the waterfront and a  Family Activity Expo at the ECHO Lake Aquarium and Science Center.  Other exciting activities include the Special Olympics Vermont Penguin  Plunge at the waterfront and Kids VT Camp and School Fair at the Hilton.

Dating back to 1993, the festival attracts thousands of people who  come to participate in Burlington’s revelry of snow and ice. Since  2007, service learning students from UVM’s Community Development &  Applied Economics Department have partnered with Burlington’s  Department of Parks and Recreation and the Church Street Marketplace  to produce this fun community event.

To find out more about the festivities or how you can be a part of  this lively community tradition, contact Nancy Bove at Burlington  Parks & Recreation, 864-0123 or nbove@ci.burlington.vt.us. Check out the  festival websites at www.enjoyburlington.com and
